Theft of fuel from HGV lorry on the A17 Spalding |
||
|
We are urging lorry drivers and haulage company owners to remain vigilant after hundreds of litres worth of diesel was reported stolen. This was believed to have happened overnight (10 February) when the lorry was parked on a layby on Washway Road on the A17. Although this happened near Spalding, the advice is applicable to HGV drivers and haulage company owners countywide. It could be that not all thefts have been reported to us, but we would like to issue the following advice to help prevent further reports. If no system has been fitted, try fitting a closed shackle padlock to the fuel cap. This makes it difficult to access the tank, and possibly generate more noise which could alert the driver. If dashcam is fitted, ensure it is recording. Ensure that you park in a recognised lorry car park, or a location that isn’t too remote. If you are a victim, please report this by calling 101. | ||
